"Sentiment Sorcerer: The EmoMagic Trial" is a 10-minute interactive virtual reality experience that puts players in the role of a candidate undergoing a trial. Throughout the experience, participants will learn about the power of emotions and words through examiner-led spell instruction, immersive storytelling, and practical spellcasting. The words you speak will serve as incantations to wield magic, making the experience emotionally charged and engaging. We aspire for the audience to find enjoyment in experiencing this work and to gain an understanding of the potent power of words and emotions.

Creative Motivation
This piece is based on our observations of human interactions in daily life. Through conversations with friends, family, spiritual talks, and counseling, we discovered the power of words to influence others' emotions, much like magic. Our goal is to bring emotions to life through words, allowing the audience to see the power within them. Using virtual reality as a medium, we enable everyone to learn and experience spellcasting firsthand, becoming wizards and witches who can perceive and help others through emotional magic.
To achieve the visualization of emotions, we integrated Google Natural Language's sentiment analysis to determine the emotions conveyed in the audience’s words. This enhances the immersive spellcasting experience. To intensify the feeling of spellcasting, we created various visual and sound effects that respond to the emotions detected in the audience's sentences. Also, gesture recognition was integrated to give the audience a more authentic experience of casting spells. By performing the "pick up the wand" gesture, a series of spellcasting learning and experiences are initiated. In addition to that, another significant highlight of our work is the inclusion of situational stories. Each trial comes with a corresponding situational story designed to assist the audience in quickly grasping the troubles of the commissioners and responding appropriately. Every commissioner is associated with a symbolic object, and the spellcasting effects not only manifest in the spatial and auditory aspects but also result in significant transformations of these symbolic objects. This provides an intuitive way for the audience to understand whether their responses satisfy the commissioners and serves as an engaging aspect of the overall experience.
At the beginning of the magic journey, the candidates (the audience) will find themselves standing in a corridor, preparing for an upcoming emotional magic trial. Upon touching the door handle, the door opens, allowing candidates to enter the examination room. Inside the examination room, an invigilating elf accompanies the audience, providing timely voice guidance. Before the formal commencement of the magical trial, there is a practice spell session assisting by the elf. Candidates need to make specific gestures and utter words infused with emotional magic to successfully output magical power. Once the spell succeeds, the practice session is over and the formal trial begins. The entire examination consists of two trials that candidates must complete. In these trials, candidates are tasked with assisting two different commissioners with varying ages and needs. They must effectively utilize the magic of emotion and words, choosing appropriate spells to repair objects symbolizing the commissioners' concerns. It is important to note that language holds significant power; every uttered word carries magic and may lead to unexpected outcomes. Therefore, candidates must carefully consider before speaking. After completing both trials, the examination elf calculates the candidate's score, and the candidate receives feedback from the commissioners. The enchanting magical journey concludes then.
